Orchestra Registration for the Summer of 2013

Classes will be held at Wilbur Wright from July 8-August 2.

School Town of Munster third and fourth grade students will have the opportunity to participate in the award winning Munster Schools Orchestra Program. Beginning violin, viola, cello and bass classes may take place this summer from July 8th-August 2nd in the Wilbur Wright Orchestra room.

There will be an important meeting on March 12, in the Wilbur Wright Middle School Orchestra room. You may sign up for a time slot on the registration form at the bottom of this page.  This summer we may offer beginning classes at $65 for a month of daily classes.  Choices for the daily forty minute lessons will be 7:30, 8:15, 9:00, and 11:15 a.m.   You may register your child for a summer lesson time at the March 12th meeting.

At the March meeting in the WWMS Orchestra room, students may:

*try violin, viola, cello and bass

*sign up a summer class time

*be sized for an instrument

Representatives from Quinlan and Fabish music store will be at the meeting to provide instrument rental information and opportunities. The Quinlan and Fabish Valparaiso store may be reached by calling 1-800-637-6872.

Some of the benefits children often experience from participating in orchestra include: creativity, improved grades, concentration, confidence, coordination, self-discipline and an appreciation and understanding of great music. One study in Japan indicated that intelligence was increased with consistent and regular string music practice and performance. The School Town of Munster offers orchestra instruction at every level from elementary to the Munster High School Symphony Orchestra.
