REGISTRATION

For Incoming Kindergarten

and

New Students to the District for the

2012-2013 school Year

The School Town of Munster will be conducting the above registration on March 7, 2012 for all new students who plan to attend during the 2012-2013 school year.  You must register in your home school between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., or from 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

In order to be eligible to register for Kindergarten a child must be five years old on or before

August 1, 2012.  To register for first grade a child must be six years old on or before August 1, 2012.

At the time of registration, parents must present a certified/original birth certificate of the child, and a valid driver’s license with the current address. (Baptismal and hospital records are not acceptable as proof of birth). At registration parents will be asked to complete a student information sheet for their child.  Please be prepared to list two emergency contacts with phone numbers, the child's physician with phone numbers, and if applicable, the name and number of the child’s day care facility.

The School Town of Munster requires that each family prove their legal settlement in Munster prior to the start of the school year.  This process can be completed throughout the summer in one central location for the School Town of Munster.  Time, dates, and the specific information required to prove your legal settlement will be available prior to the conclusion of the school year.   

Forms for physical examinations and eye examinations will be given to parents at registration.  These forms are also available on-line at each individual school’s home page.  These must be returned on or before the first day of school.   

Kindergarten parents are urged to bring their children when they come to register.  This will be a time for students to meet informally with a kindergarten teacher.  The school nurse will also be available to answer any questions parents may have.

Full Day Kindergarten

            Any parent interested in the full day kindergarten program should register at their home school.  Applications and a $200.00 deposit are required, this will be applied to the tuition balance.  In the event we have more students register on March 7, 2012 than slots available, children selected will be chosen by a lottery.  Those not selected will be placed on a waiting list based on the number order they drew in the lottery.  Applications received after March 7, 2012 will be placed on an additional waiting list and considered on a space-available basis after all students who were registered on March 7, 2012 have an opportunity for placement.  Deposits will be returned for those students on waiting lists that are not placed.  For more information about the full-day program, please call Eads Elementary at 219-836-8635, Elliott Elementary at 219-838-5250, or Frank Hammond Elementary at 219-838-2060.
